Getting Started
Signing up for Kina

What to expect during sign up:

1. Confirm email: We’ll send you a quick email to verify your email address.

2. Create profile: Next, you'll add your name, family details, and your school(s) to complete your Kina profile.

How do I link or update the schools in my account?

During account setup, you’ll have the opportunity to add your child’s school(s) to your profile.

If anything changes — like switching schools or adding a sibling — you can easily update your information anytime in your Kina portal.

Can I link multiple schools to my Kina account?

Yes. Each Kina account can be linked to multiple schools where your children are enrolled, as long as they are official partners of the Kina program.

Can I link multiple Kina accounts to the same school account?

No. Each family account (at your school) can only be connected to one Kina account. This prevents accidental double payments and keeps everything accurate for both parents and the school.

Example: If one parent has already linked their Kina account to the family’s school account, a second parent will not be able to link their own Kina account to the same school account unless it is first unlinked.

How can I get support?

Live agent support (10am to 4pm PT, Monday to Friday)

  1. Start a chat within your Kina portal and our team will step in to assist you.
  2. Reach us at (312) 210-0130

Tuition Flex
What is Tuition Flex?

Tuition Flex lets you split your monthly tuition into two payments instead of one big lump sum.

  • 1st Payment: Due at the time the plan is set up.

  • 2nd Payment: Due any time up to the last day of the current month.

With Tuition Flex, families enjoy a payment schedule that works better with their paycheck.

Who is eligible for Tuition Flex?

To use Tuition Flex, you’ll need to meet a few simple requirements:

  1. Be enrolled in a daycare or school partnered with Kina.
  2. Have no outstanding balance due with your school.
  3. Be paying your invoice in full (no partial payments).

Each member can have only one active Tuition Flex plan at a time.

How much can I split with Tuition Flex?

Your second payment can be up to 50% of your monthly tuition, with a maximum of $750.

Example: If your tuition invoice for the month is $1,200

  • Payment 1: $600

  • Payment 2: $600 (50% of $1,200, up to $750)

What if I have multiple tuition invoices?

Currently, each Kina member can only have one active Tuition Flex plan at a time. If you receive multiple invoices, you’ll need to choose which invoice to apply Tuition Flex to.

We’re working on expanding options in the future so families with multiple invoices can enjoy even more flexibility.

Does Tuition Flex have a cost?

Tuition Flex is included as part of Kina’s premium membership ($9.99 per month). Based on your school’s partnership with Kina, this membership fee may be waived.

A standard 1% processing fee applies to all payments. Depending on your bank, your payments to Kina may be processed via ACH or debit card. For example:

Can I reschedule my second payment?

If you'd like to reschedule your second payment, please contact us via chat or email at hello@kina.co.

Please keep in mind that you can pick any business day, until the last day of the current month.

What happens if I miss my second Tuition Flex payment?

If your second payment isn’t made by the agreed date:

  • Your Kina Rewards points will be frozen and cannot be redeemed.

  • Your access to Tuition Flex will be paused until the outstanding balance is paid in full.

Once your account is back in good standing, your points will be unfrozen and you’ll be able to use Tuition Flex again.

What if I have a past due balance with my school?

If you have a late balance, you’ll need to pay it directly to your school. Once that balance is cleared, you’ll be eligible to use Tuition Flex again to split your tuition for your next invoice.

How long does it take for my school to receive tuition payments?

On average, it takes 2–3 business days from the time you submit your Tuition Flex plan for your school to receive the full tuition payment from Kina. To confirm your payment was received, you can check your school’s portal after 3 business days for the updated status. Here is an example of the timeline:

  • If you completed your Tuition Flex plan before 6pm PT on Monday, your school will receive the tuition payment on Wednesday.
  • If you completed your Tuition Flex plan after 6pm PT on Monday, your school will receive the tuition payment on Thursday.

What if I get charged a late fee while using Tuition Flex?

In the rare event that you’ve made your payment through Tuition Flex and your school still applies a late fee, please notify us. Kina will reimburse any late fees caused by a delay on our end.

Manage Bank Account
What happens when I set up Kina to pay tuition for the first time?

When you set up Kina to pay tuition for the first time, you’ll go through a quick one-time identity verification process. This may include confirming your Social Security number, basic personal details, and in some cases, a driver’s license or other ID. This information is required by federal law to help fight terrorism financing and money laundering.

After verification, you’ll be prompted to link your bank account by selecting your bank, confirming authorization, and choosing which account you’d like to use for payments.

How do I update my bank account in Kina?

To make changes to your bank accounts, you can easily update your payment method anytime in the Payment Methods section of your Kina portal.

Can I pay tuition on Kina using someone else’s bank account?

Yes — you can make tuition payments from another bank account as long as you’re able to connect it to Kina and verify that you have authorized access to it.

Rewards Program
Which type of tuition payments are eligible for Kina Rewards?

Kina Rewards points can be earned on tuition payments made through Kina for our official school partners, including:

  • Daycare centers
  • Family childcare centers
  • Preschool
  • K–12

Payments made directly to schools not partnered with Kina are not eligible for rewards.

How much are Kina points worth?

Like most credit card loyalty programs, Kina points are worth around 1 cent per point. Point value may vary depending on the items being redeemed.

How many points can I earn on my tuition payments?

  • Tuition Flex: 250 points per successful payment
  • Kina Credit Card: Cardholders earn 1 point per $1 of tuition payment, up to 100,000 points per year.

Occasionally, with specific school partners, you may be eligible to earn bonus rewards on top of your regular points. These bonuses vary by partner and may be offered during special promotions or as part of your school’s partnership with Kina.

How do I redeem my points?

Please visit the Kina Store to redeem your points.

Can't I use my current credit card to pay for daycare or tuition and earn points?

Most daycares and schools charge a 3% surcharge when parents pay tuition by credit card. This usually cancels out the value of any reward points earned.

With the Kina Credit Card, parents can earn rewards on tuition payments without paying the 3% fee — making your rewards truly valuable.
